The impact passive phase At the moment of the contact with soil, the impact phase shows an intense vibration in the horse’s foot-shoe-ground. During a thousandth of a second, the foot absorbs the shock passively. The consequence of repeated shocks will cause the weakening of the leg and foot structures. The scope of this impact is directly linked to quality of footing.
The active phase : absorption and propulsion After the passive phase, the foot pushes down into the ground and rotates. This active phase lasts one hundredth of a second, is controlled by the horse, and precedes propulsion. The depth of the soil allows the foot rotation and releases the energy. The The good soil : It is a combination of mechanical, hydraulic, biological and maintenance techniques that keeps our footing consistant under all weather conditions.
